“The Republican (heathcare) plan… rolls back protections for people with pre-existing conditions, could increase health care costs for an estimated 130 million Americans.”
“premiums could reach as high as $25,700 per year for people in high-risk pools”
But what counts as a pre-existing condition?
Pregnancy… among about 50 other things (including medical complications from rape).
So don’t be a Mom in America (or a rape victim). And don’t be sick. And definitely don’t be someone who can’t afford $2k/month heath insurance premiums.
Republicans in Congress, you own this nightmare.
Even if this doesn’t pass in the Senate (and trust me, this “good cop/bad cop” routine is not, in any way, good for the American people), *some* form of this is exactly what the Republican party wants. Making health insurance too costly for sick people isn’t a BUG of the Republican healthcare plan—it’s a FEATURE. It’s an abrogation of the whole idea of what insurance is supposed to be… and it solidifies the politics of cruelty, of targeting the most vulnerable among us, as the modus operandi of the Republican party.
So call your Senator now. Tell them to block this monstrosity. And in 2018, remember to vote out anyone who voted for this.
