A few months ago, I decided that I would always have fresh flowers on my desk. It wasn’t a “reward” and I’ve never been the “bring me flowers!” kind of person. It was part of the desire to beautify the space I inhabit 90% of my waking hours.
Lately, I’ve taken to meditating before I begin writing for the day. (I’m slowly building up my time.) I begin facing my window to the back yard because it’s peaceful and lovely, with the fresh greens of spring and the crisp blue of the sky. I end by burying my face in the flowers and inhaling (note: not recommended for allergy sufferers).
Small rituals. Moments of time when I’m fully present. Increasingly, I feel like each second on the planet is a precious coin I want to spend well – a thing that’s unreachable yet it’s the reaching that counts.
Peace and love,
Sue
