Angelfall has been on my list to read since it came out last summer, one of the first flush of YA indie books to run up the charts. When Susan Ee visited my group blog Scribbler’s Cove to talk about her experience, it was one of those light-bulb moments for me. You mean a YA writer – a serious one – could be successful as an indie?
I haven’t read Angelfall yet, but that will be remedied soon. After all, it has a “cleverly crafted dystopian world” – how can I resist?
It is an excellent book. I went out and bought it after I read Susan's post on Scribble Cove and finished it in one day. Her story also gives me some hope toward the possibility of my own self publishing career.
The biggest selling points for me are having all my rights in tact, and being able to bounce back quickly. So book 1 doesn't sell, it's okay. I have a ton of ideas to put out, and by self publishing, no editor will tell me I can't step out of my niche, or that my last book didn't sell well enough for them to take another risk. It's all my risk and I get to reap all the possible rewards.

I have this book on my TBR list because it has so many good reviews but I still haven't bumped it up. I hate waiting on series to come out with the next book.
