When you think of “indie” or “self-published” novels (yes, I know some people don’t use those terms interchangeably, but I do), what image is conjured in your mind? I hope your answer is “high-quality, value-priced stories that break boundaries, crosses genres, and populate the bestseller lists in increasing numbers,” but there are many self-published works that do not meet that criteria. The question then becomes: how do you find the gems? The same way you find stories (both trad-pub and self-pub) everyday: recommendations in the form of word of mouth, bestseller lists, and reviews.
This INDIEpendence day, the Indelibles are celebrating indie authors (self-published and small-press) as a whole by holding up examples of outstanding indie works.
If you’ve read a great indie book this year (or last), please join the hop and spread the word (note: this is a Pay It Forward event – please do not post about your own book or an Indelibles’ book).
Here’s how it works:
- PICK A BOOK: Pick an indie (self-published or small press) book that you either HAVE READ AND LOVED or WANT TO READ.
- WRITE A POST: On INDIEpendence day (July 2nd), write a post about that book. It can be a review, an interview with the author, or simply a post highlighting the book.
