Bad is in the Eye of the Victim – Um – Beholder
by Angela Brown and Gwen Gardner
All of you are probably wondering why you’re gagging at the smell of rotten eggs and burned everything. That would be the wonderful scents of sulfur and the never-ending fires of my home.
Hell, as so many call it.
I have a name you will discover when you read Neverlove by Angela Brown. My friend, the inky black blot of wavering shadow by my side, well, you can learn more about it – him – when you check out Givin’ Up The Ghost by Gwen Gardner. Forgive his silence. He doesn’t say much.
Now, here’s the real deal. That girl, Abigail – from Neverlove – should have just finished what she started at the very beginning so that I could feast on her soul. The more tortured, the better. And hers was the ripest, best kind. I am the Devourer, after all. Can’t fault me for wanting my souls seasoned with a bit of…suffering.
Speaking for the Shadow, here, I’m sure whatever he has in mind for Indigo – from Givin’ Up The Ghost – isn’t too bad. He’s a Shadow. What can he do?
*The flames flicker. The stifling, lung-burning air grows chilly. The Devourer shivers and shoots a glance at the Shadow*
Okay, I take that last part back. Sheesh. Didn’t have to take it personal.
Back to my point. Some of us villains tend to get a bum rap. Like beauty, bad is in the eye of the victim – um, I mean – the beholder.
Maybe some of you know a villain that got a bad rap. How ‘bout you tell us about them. Really, I want to know…and no, I won’t devour your souls if you do…or don’t…maybe J

[Ed note: I’ve been dying, er, longing to read Angela’s book ever since I knew she was writing one. And Gwen’s sounds just as awesome.]

Running, writing and reading are my favorite things.
I am also a dreamer.
Have you ever told yourself that “someday” I’m going to travel or write or whatever it is that you are passionate about but can’t do right now for whatever reason? You can go for years and years and keep telling yourself that “someday” you’ll do it. Too often “someday” never comes. But mine did. I am a former Administrative Manager and Vice President of a successful swimming pool plastering company – until I woke up one day and realized that my “someday” had arrived. I quit my job, moved to the mountains and began to write. Crazy, I know. But even crazier? Is when you get to the end of your life and realize that your “someday” is too late. Life is much too short for that! So the adventure has begun.

Hey Susan. I see the Devourer has shared his special brand of "vision". Sheesh.
Villains. Can't have a good story without them.
Thanks for allowing Devourer and the Shadow to stop by today 🙂
And I do hope you enjoy the books when you get a chance to read them.
Angela, how did the Devourer get a guest spot on Susan's blog? He's probably terrifying her poor followers.
Keep an eye on him, Sue! He can't be trusted.
Oh, and thanks for hosting him/us today:)
I've got my eyes on him, Gwen.
You guys are the cutest! I love what you're doing with this tour! I've already got Angela's book on my Kindle, and I can't wait to read both of yours. Best of luck!
Thanks so much, Susan.
*now casting a side glance at Devourer, the sneaky fella*
So I ordered both copies last night. YAY! Tossed a quarter. Neverlove got heads up. Givin' Up the Ghost will be next. 🙂 So, on chapter five in Neverlove, I have to say, (No judging!) I kind of like the bad guy? I can't help it, he's entertaining. So far that is.
*waves* at Susan. I've got Basil and Badger over on mine today.
Don't tell Devourer this, but I had a bit of fun writing him up. I didn't want him to be cold and stark. So, when he tossed a bit of snark and smirk my way, I went with it lol!!
Hope you continue to enjoy the book and I'm sure you'll snug your way right into Givin' Up the Ghost 🙂
These ladies are running a fantastic blog tour.
Hey Susan, just wanted to let you know that I received an email from Amazon that featured two authors. The first one was Hugh Howey and all of his books recommending them for purchase (as I've read a few). But the last author was you. :))!! I was so excited for you. Amazon is blasting emails at potential readers featuring your book!
Woot!! I can decide if I'm more excited to have Amazon blasting emails for me, or to be IN AN EMAIL WITH HUGH HOWEY!! Both. Yes, I'm going with both.
Thanks for telling me!!
Wow Susan, that is so awesome. Congrats!
Awesome post. So love learning more about Angela's and Gwen's book. So excited for both of them.
Thank you, Natalie. This has been an awesome experience.
This interview gave me the shivers, loved it! Just what I needed on an October evening! 🙂
Devourer insisted on having his say lol!!
Nice interview! It is so great to see these gals in so many places on the net.
Sounds fantastic. Wishing you both the best of luck.
Loving these guest posts! Hmm, my favourite villain… That's rather hard. I'm going to try to write one soon about a womanizing devil-may-care guy – he could be seen as a villain by some, but I hope they'll see his reasons and his good sides as well…
