I’m reprising my Self-Publishing Basics series over at D.D.’s Blog (Writer’s Guide to E-Publishing) today and tomorrow – updated with minor changes and prettied up.
to see Part 1 (Where to Publish) today and Part 2 (Formatting, The Easy Way) on Monday
meanwhile…
If you somehow missed the tsnuami of awesome that was people sharing my new live-action trailer all over the internet last week, here it is again:
When everyone reads minds,
a secret is a dangerous thing to keep.
and don’t forget…Open Minds and the Box Set are ON SALE until 1/17
until 1/17

I paid to have my formatting done the first time. A mistake, as I still had to spend many hours re-reading the work and sending back 'correction notes'–and to top it all off, the final result wasn't of great quality. I did it on my own the second time by learning some basic html and following a couple of Online guides. While not painless, the learning curve wasn't that steep.
My basic tip would be to invest the initial time in learning how to do it properly on your own and never have to worry over the time and expense of outsourcing again.
I have a FABULOUS person do the work for me (which I talk about in subsequent posts)… and I still came to the conclusion you did: that it's worthwhile to invest time in learning the skills to be able to do it yourself. Hopefully the rest of the posts on formatting will help people to do that.
Loved the trailer! Makes me want to read the trilogy all over again! I also have referred to your formatting post several times and it's the best guide I've found. Thanks!
Yay and Yay! Thanks for your kind words! 🙂
