Love is love is love.
I feel like Valentine’s Day needs to be repurposed into an expansive Love Day. We don’t need a proclamation or a greeting card to do it – simply make it so in your own sphere.
Love your neighbor.
Love the people in your life whose heart you know. Speak directly to it, saying it’s beautiful and kind and worthy.
Every year, I take my boys to the store to pick out flowers to take to grandma. This year, I sent them on their own (because Eldest Son can drive – yay!)… they came back with flowers for me as well. (Don’t think that didn’t make me cry cuz it did.)
A teacher-friend posted, asking for things she could do to celebrate Valentine’s Day with her students (I love that the schools do this). My suggestion? Bring each one up and tell them what she loves most about them. Not my original idea, but then the best ideas never are.
Love is ancient.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” – 1 Corinthians
Love is love is love.
