Made my doctor’s day this morning.
I led with: “I’ve been meditating daily since I saw you in September.”
I was a wreck then, limping around with major back pain. Today I was effusing about the change in my mind/body over three months of rigorous healing/rejuvenation, including all kinds of exercise, yoga, meditation, at-home PT, etc.
She was like, “Now THIS is what I like to start the morning with!”
Most fascinating to me was my blood pressure: 97/67
Normally, my blood pressure is low: a rock-solid 106/70 for most of my life. The last year or so my BP’s been seriously UP: 120/80 range. That’s supposedly “normal” so my doctor wasn’t freaking out, but *I* was… I knew that wasn’t normal for me. But after three months of daily meditation, it’s lower than it ever has been in my life. And I can *feel* it – the daily stress is just less (a combination of the formal meditation practice and a commitment to mindfulness living the rest of the time).
Anecdotal? Sure. But there’s more medical evidence piling up every day. I recommended ALTERED TRAITS to my doctor, and I hope she reads it. I think she would like less stress in her life, too.
