It was brought to my attention that some people have trouble with the embedded comment option, i.e. they have to click through a bunch of times, switch browsers, do a small dance, and make an offering to the Blogger Gods … just to leave a comment.
Now I think it’s terribly important that everyone leave comments, but really, Blogger? It’s not worth that much trouble.
So.
I want to make things as easy on my readers as possible, and I’m going straight to the source!
Since asking you to leave a comment could be a tricky business that could taint the results, I’m using even trickier technology…a poll!
I’ll let this poll run for a week, to give everyone a chance to vote. Check it out on the sidebar! (Man that place is getting crowded)
UPDATE: HOLY CATS, it’s Friday. Um, no Friday post today, folks…sorry! Sometimes the week gets away from me. See you Monday!
I prefer the popup, like this one, because I like the little window for blogging at work. Shhh. But the the fullpage version (like Nathan's) seems to be a little more stable sometimes.
Ok, I changed it to full page – I think I actually like this better than the pop-up. Still like embedded best though. We'll see what the poll says … 🙂
I haven't had a problem with any of them. 🙂
This is better. My home laptop browser won't let me comment on the embedded posts, so I have to get on my iPhone to do it. Lol
All those terms confuse me. Luckily, there were five options in the poll, and I have five fingers – perfect for eenie meenie minie moe.
I never noticed much of a difference. The thing I don't like is the word verification. But then again, I usually still put up with it. *shrugs* I have had issues with both before though. Nothing's perfect!
I haven't had a problem with either, but the word verification is irritating, and sometimes I click on "Publish Your Comment" and move on to read another blog, forgetting that some blogs have the word verification, so my comments didn't get published, and when I went back to try and retrieve them, they were gone! Good idea to have a poll about this. I'm looking forward to the results.
@LisaGG and @LynNerd I had a campaign before about getting people to drop wordver, and I think some did, but then got spammed. But for most people it works pretty well. I haven't had any problems since dropping wordver. Maybe I'm not popular enough! 🙂
I dropped wordver at your recommendation, and I haven't had any problems. Happy to cut out that step.
I'm good with either. 🙂
hi miss susan! for me i dont much care. i just like being able to do a comment no matter how i could do it. i hope you have a real fun and nice weekend.
…hugs from lenny
I admit to an overwhelming amount of comment ignorance. I don't know the difference of any of the things you mentioned, I just know that I do occassionally have trouble leaving comments in blogger. I haven't been able to figure out a common denominator either, just happens from time to time and is mega annoying. Can't answer poll because of ignorance. Except the pastries. I do understand the pastries.
I'm on team "Word Verification Bugs Me." I just went with the pop up.
Whatever works. I don't mind the word verification, myself. I wasn't aware that many don't like it, but privacy is a concern for some people.
Blogger seems to avoid recognizing certain other blogging hosts when those users try to comment. One of my friends has this happen every time, so she doesn't comment too much. She gets very frustrated.
I'll be interested in how this pans out, Susan. Blogger should fix these problems.
